I think all universities should have an Art & Design Faculty that would act as a central research hub for all research areas. The multidisciplinary potential here is vastly underestimated. Though my research background was in Irish literature and theory, my first academic post was based in an Art and Design faculty. I had the opportunity to think outside the box of my research and recontextualise my knowledge in a more creative context. It was a wonderful journey as I was part of a number of art gallery exhibitions exploring dimensions of my past research in new and innovative ways. Placing an Art & Design faculty at the heart of a university research environment would be a game-changer in Higher Education research.
